TREATMENT
Steve Humphries Yorkshire Sports Injury & Physio Clinic offers a diligent, personable and dedicated service. Treatment and assessment techniques utilised are contemporary and highly effective in moulding an individually tailored treatment and rehabilitation plan to rid you of your pain or dysfunction. The complete package is of the highest quality and delivered by Steve himself at the Leeds Rugby Academy training ground; the home of Leeds Rhinos and Yorkshire Carnegie. This ensures the same meticulous approach is given to everyone who attends...the same as would be expected by professional, international and olympic athletes.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM A SESSION?
The initial assessment will consist of a detailed history taking where together with Steve, the puzzle is pieced together and offers a great opportunity to build a professional trust and rapport. A physical examination will then take place to confirm or refute initial suspicions from the history of the pain and/or injury. These will be openly and honestly discussed to then formulate an appropriate and individualised treatment and rehabilitation pathway. No standard or generic protocols will be provided in the treatment, rehabilitation or corrective exercise plan.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
It is often required to visualise the tissue/skin to fully assess inflammatory markers around the injury site and look how efficiently joints move. Pain is a symptom of injury or excessive stress and trauma placed upon tissue, but it is not necessarily the root cause. In this respect the assessment will often consider movement and joints above and below the injured site.
Therefore the ideal clothing would be shorts, t-shirt and trainers/socks, however loosely fitted garments can be equally effective for an assessment and treatment. Ultimately you can wear whatever garments you feel confident and comfortable in however this may limit some of the accuracy of the assessment.
WHAT TREATMENTS AND/OR REHABILITATION MAY I BE EXPOSED TO?
Your treatment and rehabilitation program will be completely tailored to your own needs. Dependent upon your injury and it's source, treatments may include, but would not be exclusive to: acupuncture/dry needling, exercise rehabilitation, joint mobilisation, movement restoration, nerve mobilisations, Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT), Postural Restoration (Myokinetic Restoration and Postural Respiration) and soft tissue mobilisation (Active Release Technique, Instrumented Soft Tissue Mobilisation, Deep Tissue Massage).
